Marketing consent notice
What you agree to when you opt in to marketing email, and how to stop.
Version 2026-08-30
This is a draft and has not been reviewed by a lawyer.
It describes how Silkroad actually works today, which is why it is published rather than hidden. It is not legal advice and is not the final wording. Silkroad will not take a real payment under an unapproved document — checkout refuses one.
What you are opting in to
Optional email about events on Silkroad. Nothing else: opting in does not change what you are shown on the site and does not affect any purchase.
This is separate from the transactional messages about an order — your tickets, a change to an event you bought for, a refund. Those are part of the purchase and are sent whether or not you take marketing.
It is a choice, and it stays one
Consent is given by an explicit action and is never assumed from a purchase, an account, or a pre-ticked box. Declining costs you nothing.
You can withdraw at any time from the link in any marketing message or from your account settings, and withdrawing is as easy as consenting was. It takes effect immediately for messages not already sent.
What is recorded
The fact that you consented, when, and the version of this notice you consented under. That record is what lets the platform prove your choice was yours, so it is kept even after you withdraw.
If this notice changes materially, your existing consent stops covering it and you are asked again rather than carried over silently.
Who sends it
Silkroad, through its email provider. Organizers do not get your address for their own marketing through this consent; an organizer who wants to market to you has to ask you themselves.
The privacy policy describes what is held and for how long.
